Story Is Your Leadership Superpower

A one-day rehearsal experience for senior leaders, founders and experts who need their powerful ideas to land.

(Scroll down to the bottom to purchase if you already know you’re coming)

About you

You’re an expert, senior leader or founder

You have the track record. The expertise.

But now you need to turn it into influence.

You need a board to back a decision. An investor to say yes. Your stakeholders to get behind a change they didn't ask for. A conference audience to remember what you said… long after.

You need your thinking to land with the force it deserves. Every time.

What's actually happening

Your expertise and experience got you here.

But now you need to do something else. Something that inspires belief, movement and loyalty.

The leaders who can do this have all mastered the intricacy of storytelling.

Story; narrative is the single most powerful asset you have to help people understand, remember and repeat you and your ideas. Stories are what make people act.

In our research, communicating under pressure is one of the biggest challenges for our senior leaders. Storytelling is most effective when the stakes are highest. It's also when most people haven't built the muscle to do it.

The result:

  • Good ideas get overlooked because they weren't memorable

  • It's easy to over-explain when your audience starts losing interest

  • A smaller idea, told well (by someone else) is the one people go with

  • Expertise doesn't always land with the weight it deserves

  • Visibility wanes

Every other skill this important gets rehearsed. For some, storytelling gets left to chance.

Athletes drill specific movements over and over. Directors choose the precise angle of the camera for maximum impact. Musicians rehearse their instruments to the annoyance of their neighbours.

They don't leave their most important moment to whatever they can produce on the day.

Business doesn't train this way. You can be excellent, senior, credible, and still be leaving your most valuable asset to chance. Storytelling is treated as something you either have or you don't, not a skill built through reps like every other skill that matters this much.

What makes this different

Story Is Your Leadership Superpower is a one-day, theatre-based rehearsal experience. You work with an executive confidence coach, an award-winning playwright and a West End theatre director to develop both halves of what makes an idea land. We share techniques directly from the rehearsal rooms we’ve worked in. From Alan Rickman’s cure for stage-fright to Benedict Cumberbatch’s cure for thinking on your feet. .

A well-structured story delivered without conviction doesn't move anyone. Great presence can't rescue a message with no point. We help you create both at the same time.

What we’ll do on the day

Find the story. Every idea needs you to know what you want your audience to think, feel or do, and the human story that gets them there. You'll work with Nina Segal, Associate writer at the Royal Court. An award-winning playwright who knows how professional writers structure a story so an audience keeps listening: the real point, the stakes, the turning point, the detail that makes it vivid, the resolution that gives it meaning.

Rehearse the delivery. Knowing what to say is half the job. Saying it when the pressure is on is the other half. Working with Abbey Wright, Artistic Director of New Forest Open Air Theatre, and using techniques from the professional rehearsal room, you'll explore what happens to your voice, body and thinking under scrutiny, and build practical ways to manage nerves, use breath and voice with more range, take up space without performing, and stop rushing to fill silence.

Stand up and do it. This is where the day is different from a training room. You write, speak, experiment, get direct feedback, and try again. All day. At the end, you deliver your own story, live, to the room. You feel the walk to the front, the moment before you speak, the room looking back at you, loving every minute.

The professional theatre world knows something organisations tend to forget: great communication is rehearsed. Actors, writers and directors don't leave audience impact to chance. You shouldn't either.

Who this is for

This is for senior leaders, founders and experts with something important to say, and a room that matters to say it to.

You might be preparing to:

  • Deliver a keynote or speak on a panel

  • Pitch an idea to a board, investor or senior stakeholder group

  • Represent your organisation publicly for the first time at this level

  • Lead a team or a company through change

  • Raise your profile as a founder or recognised expert

  • Walk into any high-stakes conversation where the outcome depends on how well the idea lands, not just how good it is

You're used to presenting. But your expertise doesn't always translate into communication that moves people to act. You already know it.

This is for people who are done leaving the moments that matter to chance.

What changes after

You leave having developed and rehearsed your own material, with feedback from three people whose job is understanding exactly how stories move audiences.

You'll be able to:

  • Find the point of what you're saying, faster

  • Turn a complex idea into something a non-specialist audience remembers

  • Talk about your own contribution in a compelling way

  • Choose the vivid detail and cut the explanation that's getting in the way

  • Manage nerves (the Alan Rickman way)

  • Own the room

The day itself

A one-day, in-person workshop at Jerwood Space, London. Limited to a small group, led by:

  • An executive confidence coach

  • An award-winning playwright

  • A West End theatre director

The day combines story theory and practical tools, individual writing and reflection, small-group work, one:one coaching rehearsal room games, voice and presence work, and individual coaching from all three practitioners, building to your own 90-second story, delivered live.

You leave with material you can keep refining and using long after the day ends.

What people said afterwards

Participants rated the workshop 9.1 out of 10,

"Crafting your essential toolkit as a leader to inspire any audience."

"I'm already using the techniques. I had meetings with new clients the day after, and the exercises really helped prepare me for all of them."

"A reminder that at the end, everyone is just human, be it board members or senior leadership."

"I'll remember that everyone is just human, even the C-suite. I'll stay more grounded and slow down before an important call or presentation. I used to think that stuff was a bit hocus pocus, but I could see and feel the benefits."

"Unconventional, theatrically bold, and delivered with striking brilliance, like a performance that captivates from the first moment and lingers long after the curtain falls."

"Three weeks after the workshop I used the story structure to open a board presentation on a restructure nobody wanted to hear about. I got more buy-in.

"I gave the keynote at our global conference using what I learned. People I'd never met came up to me afterwards and said how much they got from it”

"I’ve been using the structure every time I have to brief the board."
